What Happens After a Fund is Archived

Updated this week

When a fund meets the archiving criteria and the Funds Manager initiates the archiving process, different steps occur from both the Funds Manager's and investor's perspectives. This article explains what to expect during and after the archiving process.

From the Funds Manager's Perspective

Once you click the archive button, the fund will begin the automated archiving process. Please note the following important details:

  • Archiving is not immediate: The archiving action takes effect only after settlement completes at 00:00 UTC+2 on a trading day.

  • Non-trading day requests: If you initiate archiving on a non-trading day, the settlement and archiving will be processed at 00:00 UTC+2 on the next trading day.

  • No additional action required: After clicking the archive button, the process is fully automated. You don't need to perform any further operations.

  • Tracking the archive record: You can view the archiving record by navigating to Funds Management → Funds Manager → My Approvals → Approved. The "Approved" status indicates that your archiving action was automatically processed by the system without requiring additional approval from you.

From the Investor's Perspective

After the Funds Manager completes the archiving action, the system follows a multi-step settlement process before your funds become available. Here's the complete timeline:

Step 1: Passive Redemption Record Created (Day 0)

  • On the day the fund is archived, a passive redemption record is automatically created.

  • You can view this record in Funds Management → Investor → My Actions.

  • Important: At this stage, the redemption record shows no specific amount yet.

Step 2: First Settlement - Amount Confirmation (Day 1)

  • At 00:00 UTC+2 on the next trading day, the first Daily Metrics settlement occurs.

  • The system calculates and updates the specific redemption amount in your record.

  • You can now see the exact amount that will be redeemed.

Step 3: Destination Selection (Day 1 onwards)

  • After the first settlement completes, you can now select where to transfer your redeemed funds.

  • Navigate to Funds Management → Investor → My Actions to choose your destination account.

  • Two options are available:

    • Trading Account

    • Investment Wallet

  • Action required: You must manually select the destination account. If you delay this selection, the subsequent steps will be postponed accordingly.

Step 4: Second Settlement - Fund Transfer (Day 2)

  • At 00:00 UTC+2 on the second trading day after archiving, the second Daily Metrics settlement occurs.

  • The system automatically transfers your redeemed funds to the destination account you selected.

  • Your funds are now available in your chosen Trading Account or Investment Wallet.

Timeline Example

Let's walk through a practical example:

January 6, 2026 - Fund is archived

  • Passive redemption record is created

  • Visible in My Actions, but no specific amount shown

January 7, 2026 at 00:00 UTC+2 - First settlement

  • System calculates the specific redemption amount

  • You can now see the exact amount and select your destination account

January 7, 2026 onwards - Destination selection

  • You choose whether funds go to Trading Account or Investment Wallet

  • (If you delay this step, the final transfer will be postponed)

January 8, 2026 at 00:00 UTC+2 - Second settlement

  • Funds are transferred to your selected destination account

  • Redemption process is complete

Important Notes

  • Funds visibility: Until you complete the destination selection and the second settlement occurs, the fund assets amount remains visible in the wallet area (upper right corner of the Client Portal).

  • No automatic transfer: Your redeemed funds will not be automatically transferred without your destination selection.

  • Timeline delays: If you delay selecting your destination account, all subsequent steps will be postponed accordingly.
