Can I adjust the risk and volume allocation on a strategy?
Can I adjust the risk and volume allocation on a strategy?
Updated over 6 months ago

The default setting is set as equity x ratio when you first start copying a strategy. Any open positions on the Strategy will be copied as Equity x Ratio. This means trades will be copied in line with the equity ratio between the Strategy Provider and Investor accounts. For future positions, you can adjust the risk settings, choosing from a range of risk allocation options.
This can be adjusted to your preferred allocation method as below:

Proportionally by Balance
Position of investor = Master position x (Investor's balance/Master’s Balance)

Calculates the position size by balance rather than equity. Balance is the amount of money in the account without considering open trades, while equity factors in open trades which could be in profit or loss. If the investor has half the balance of the master account, the investor position will be half the volume of the master position.
This would be the same as the default ratio setting if it were set to a ratio of 1.

Proportionally by Equity
Position of investor = Master position x (Investor's Equity/Master’s Equity)

Calculates the position size by equity rather than balance. Equity is the amount of money in the account while considering open trades, with open profit and loss. If the investor has half the equity of the master account, the investor position will be half the volume of the master position.

Proportionally by Balance x Ratio
Position of investor = Master position x (Investor's balance/Master’s Balance) x Ratio

The ratio is a custom figure set by the investor, then effectively using the Proportionally by Balance method. For example, a ratio of 1 will match the Proportionally by Balance allocation method, while a ratio of 2 would double the volume.

Fixed lot allocation
Position of investor = fixed lot (ratio) Position of investor is
opened in the direction of master trade

Fixed lot is a fixed figure set by the investor, copying the trade at a ratio of fixed lots compared to the master trade. For example, if the master trade is 1 lot, and the ratio set for Fixed lot allocation is 5, the lots traded on the copier account will be 5.

Ratio Multiplier (also known as lot allocation)
Position of investor = Master position x Ratio

Ratio multiplier is based on a ratio set by the investor, copying the trade at a ratio compared to the master trade position size. For example, if the master trade is 1 lot, and the ratio set for 5, the lots traded on the copier account will be 5.
