Can I use custom indicators in FXTRADING.com Web Trader?

Add Web Trader's built-in TradingView indicators, understand the MQL boundary, and create, compile, load or troubleshoot custom indicators on desktop MT4 or MT5.

FXTRADING.com Web Trader provides the built-in TradingView Indicators & Strategies library. Use that library directly on the Web Trader chart. A custom MQL4 or MQL5 indicator created for desktop MetaTrader is a different type of program; no verified Help Center method is currently available for uploading it to Web Trader or synchronizing it from desktop MT4 or MT5.

Add a built-in indicator in Web Trader

  1. Open Web Trader and use Change account to confirm the intended account, MT4 or MT5 platform, and Live or Demo environment.

  2. In Instruments, select the complete visible symbol, including any suffix, so that the intended chart is active.

  3. Open Indicators & Strategies from the chart toolbar.

  4. Search by indicator name or browse the built-in library currently displayed, then select the required entry from the results.

  5. Check that the study appears on the intended chart. Use only the settings, visibility or removal controls displayed for that study in the current Web Trader version.

The current Web Trader audit verifies the built-in library and its search. It does not verify a MetaEditor control, an MQL file-upload route or automatic synchronization from desktop MetaTrader. A library item labelled as a strategy is not evidence that an MT4/MT5 Expert Advisor or custom MQL program has been installed or authorized to trade.

Understand the three different tool types

  • A Web Trader built-in indicator or strategy is an item supplied in the embedded TradingView library and used on the Web Trader chart.

  • A custom MQL indicator is an analysis program created for the matching desktop platform: MQL4 for MT4 or MQL5 for MT5. It is not the same object as a Web Trader library item.

  • An Expert Advisor is a separate automated-trading program. A custom indicator analyzes or displays data; it does not become an Expert Advisor because a library uses the word strategy.

Install or create a custom indicator on desktop MT4 or MT5

  1. Open the intended desktop MetaTrader terminal and confirm whether the account uses MT4 or MT5.

  2. For a trusted existing file, choose File → Open Data Folder and use MQL4\Indicators for MT4 or MQL5\Indicators for MT5. For a new indicator, open Navigator and choose Create in MetaEditor, or open MetaEditor with F4.

  3. Use files made for the matching platform: MQ4 or EX4 for MT4, and MQ5 or EX5 for MT5. Renaming a file extension does not convert the program between MQL4 and MQL5.

  4. If source code is available, open it in the matching MetaEditor and compile with F7. Resolve compilation errors before trying to attach the indicator.

  5. Return to MetaTrader and refresh Navigator if the compiled indicator does not appear. Locate it under Indicators or Custom Indicators.

  6. Double-click the indicator or drag it from Navigator onto the intended chart. Review the inputs, appearance, visualization/timeframe and any dependency permissions before applying it.

  7. To change or remove an applied indicator, open the chart's Indicator List, select the exact indicator, and use Properties or Delete. Removing it from a chart is different from deleting its files from Navigator.

If an indicator is missing or does not load

  • In Web Trader, recheck the selected account and complete symbol, clear the Indicators & Strategies search, and use only entries returned by the current built-in library.

  • On desktop, confirm that the file is in the matching MQL4\Indicators or MQL5\Indicators folder and that an executable EX4 or EX5 file was produced.

  • If compilation fails, review the exact MetaEditor error list. An indicator that has not compiled successfully cannot be attached.

  • If the indicator attaches but shows no output, recheck the symbol, timeframe, input and visualization settings, then review the platform Journal or Experts messages for the exact error.

Use custom code only from a source you trust. Do not enable DLL imports, WebRequest access or other dependencies unless the indicator requires them and you understand the permission. Test unfamiliar code on a Demo account first. An indicator signal is analytical information, not a guaranteed result.

Report a Web Trader indicator problem

If the built-in library is missing, search does not respond, or a selected built-in study does not appear on the intended Web Trader chart, record the account platform/environment, complete symbol, indicator name, exact behavior, date and time with time zone, and a screenshot with unrelated personal information hidden.

  • For account-specific investigation, use Client Portal → Service Hub → Create Ticket → FXTRADING.com Platforms → Available Infrastructure → FXTRADING.com Web Terminal.

  • Never provide a password, one-time code, private key or recovery phrase.
