Understanding MT5 History and Trade Page Balances
Overview of Balance Types in MT5
Trade page Balance: This is the account balance in the deposit currency, excluding the current result of open positions. It is not the same as Free Margin or a guaranteed amount that can be used immediately. Before a new order, also check Equity, Margin, Free Margin, trading permissions, and market status.
History page: This shows account activity for the selected period, such as closed deals, profit and loss, deposits, withdrawals, and available fee or adjustment entries in the current platform build.
What Does the History Page Indicate?
History is a reporting view and does not debit money merely by being displayed. The underlying transactions recorded there may already have changed the account Balance. Use the current Trade page metrics for the current account state.
The figures summarize deposits, withdrawals, deal results, fees, or adjustments for the selected period, according to the columns and filters available in the current MT5 build.
A negative period result generally means the listed activity produced a net loss within the selected range. It does not by itself prove that the current Balance, Equity, or Free Margin is negative; check each current metric separately.
How Date Filters Affect History Page Totals
The figures displayed on the History page are directly influenced by your chosen date range. For example:
If you adjust the filter to a specific date range, the page recalculates the totals for just that period.
Selecting a very narrow date (like today) may result in a balance of zero if no transactions occurred during that period.
For a useful review, select the full relevant date range and inspect the individual entries. Even complete history does not replace the current Balance, Equity, Margin, and Free Margin on the Trade page.
Do History Page Figures Affect My Current Balance?
No. Changing a History filter or viewing a report does not move funds or create a new deduction by itself.
The History view alone does not change the current Balance. However, the executed deals, fees, swaps, deposits, withdrawals, and adjustments shown there may already have changed it.
A report figure is not deducted again from a new deposit. Available funds depend on actual transactions, open-position results, Margin, fees, swaps, withdrawals, adjustments, and restrictions. If figures do not reconcile, compare deal and transaction history with the current metrics and request a secure review.
