Managing Inactive Trading Accounts

Updated this week

Understanding Account Archiving

Real trading accounts can become archived either manually or automatically after periods of inactivity. When an account is archived, it remains inactive until reactivated. Any remaining funds stay in the account but cannot be used for trading until the account is restored. FXTRADING.com does not support permanent account deletion, and archiving acts as the best alternative to preserve important account data.

Note: Demo accounts are permanently deleted after inactivity periods and cannot be recovered. However, for real accounts that you no longer wish to use actively, archiving provides an effective way to manage these accounts without deleting them.

Automatic Archiving Process

  • Real accounts may be automatically archived after 90 days of inactivity

  • Inactivity means no trading operations or balance operations

  • Archived accounts are hidden in your Client Portal and inactive in MetaTrader

Locating Archived Accounts

You can find your archived accounts by:

  1. Logging into your Client Portal

  2. Going to the "Account List" section

  3. Selecting the "Archived" tab

Manual Archiving Options

Archiving is particularly useful for deactivating unwanted accounts without permanently deleting them.

On Web Client Portal:

  1. Log into your Client Portal

  2. Navigate to "Account List"

  3. Click the 3-dot menu next to the account

  4. Select "Archive account"

On Mobile App:

  1. Open the app

  2. Go to the Accounts tab

  3. Tap the dropdown icon next to the account

  4. Swipe left and select "Archive"

Rather than creating new accounts, consider reactivating archived ones when needed.
