What is the difference between a live and demo trading account?

A live trading account uses real funds. A demo trading account uses virtual funds for platform familiarisation and practice.

A live trading account uses real funds. A demo trading account uses virtual funds for platform familiarisation and practice.

Live trading accounts

On a live account:

  • deposits, withdrawals, profit and loss affect real funds;

  • orders are subject to the account's current pricing, execution, margin and product conditions;

  • identity, account and payment requirements may apply; and

  • the account can be archived or otherwise restricted according to its displayed status and applicable terms.

Creating an FXTRADING.com profile does not guarantee that a particular live trading account will be created automatically. Open the Client Portal to see the accounts available to your profile and any action required before trading is enabled.

Demo trading accounts

On a demo account:

  • the balance is virtual and cannot be withdrawn;

  • prices and platform functions are provided for demonstration and practice;

  • execution and results may differ from a live account; and

  • the account may expire or be removed after inactivity according to the status shown in the Client Portal.

A demo account does not remove trading risk and its results do not predict live-account performance.

Find or create an account
