A newly created Live Account starts with read-only access until the activation requirement for its account type is met. Read-only access lets you view the account but does not let you place new trades.
Read-only access can also occur when you sign in to MetaTrader with an investor/read-only password instead of the trading password. Check both the account's activation status and the password type used.
What are the current activation thresholds?
The current USD activation thresholds are:
Standard account: USD 50
Standard Pro account: USD 100
Standard Plus account: USD 100
Raw Spread account: USD 50
For a trading account in another base currency, use the activation information shown for that account in the Client Portal. The payment method can also have its own transaction minimum; that is separate from the trading-account activation threshold.
For any account type not shown above, use the activation requirement displayed for that account in the Client Portal.
Which credited funds can activate the account?
A completed external deposit credited directly to the new trading account can count toward activation. The threshold can be met by one qualifying deposit or by cumulative qualifying external deposits credited to that account.
A completed internal transfer from another of your FXTRADING.com trading accounts to the new trading account can also activate it when the credited transfer meets that account's displayed activation threshold.
Example: Account A has USD 500. New Account B has USD 0 and displays a USD 50 activation threshold. A completed USD 50 internal transfer from Account A to Account B can activate Account B for trading.
The external deposit or eligible internal transfer must be completed and visible in the intended new trading account. A payment request, provider debit, deposit or transfer still being processed does not count as credited funds.
Which fund movements do not automatically activate the account?
The following movements do not establish automatic activation:
a payment, deposit or internal transfer that is still pending or has not been credited to the new trading account;
funds returned after ending a Social Trading subscription or relationship; or
funds returned after a Funds Management redemption.
The displayed balance alone does not prove activation. If a qualifying external deposit or eligible completed internal transfer meets the threshold but the account remains read-only, follow the checks below.
How do I check whether the account is activated?
Sign in to the Client Portal.
Open the new Live Account.
Confirm its account type and activation information.
Check that a qualifying external deposit or a completed internal transfer from another FXTRADING.com trading account is credited to the new account.
Sign out of MetaTrader and reconnect with the trading password and the correct server.
Confirm whether the platform allows a new-order action.
Do not place a trade merely to test activation if you do not intend to trade.
The threshold is met but the account is still read-only
Refresh the Client Portal, reconnect the trading platform and confirm that you used the trading password rather than the investor/read-only password.
If the account remains read-only, use the signed-in Service Hub. Provide the trading-account number and the reference for the completed external deposit or eligible internal transfer used to meet the activation threshold. Support will review the account state and credited funds and tell you the next available action.
Never provide a password or one-time code.
