Why are New Order and other trading tools greyed out?

Trading controls can be unavailable when the platform is connected with an investor/read-only password, the account is read-only or inactive, the market is closed, the symbol is unavailable, or the platform is not fully connected.

Check which password you used

FXTRADING.com trading accounts can have different credentials:

  • Trading password: used to place and manage orders in the trading platform.

  • Investor/read-only password: used to view the account without placing or changing orders.

  • Client Portal password: used to sign in to the Client Portal. It does not replace the trading password.

If you signed in with the investor/read-only password, sign out of the trading platform and reconnect with the trading password.

Never share either trading-platform password with another person.

Check the account and connection

  1. Confirm that the complete account number and correct server are selected.

  2. Check that the platform shows an active connection.

  3. Confirm that you are using a live or demo account that is currently active.

  4. Review the account in the Client Portal for an activation, verification or read-only message.

  5. Confirm that the selected instrument is available for the account and that its market is open.

  6. Restart or reconnect the platform after correcting the issue.

For a newly created live trading account, complete the activation requirement displayed in the Client Portal. An internal transfer does not automatically activate a new account.

Reset the trading password

If you do not know the trading password, use the trading-account settings in the Client Portal to change it when that control is available. Do not reset the Client Portal password when the problem is only the trading-platform password.
