Quick answer: First identify which password is affected. Resetting the Client Portal password does not reset a trading password or investor/read-only password.
Which password do I need to reset?
Password type | Used for |
Client Portal password | used to sign in to the Client Portal and manage the profile. |
Trading password | used to sign in to a specific MetaTrader account with trading permissions. |
Investor/read-only password | used to view a specific MetaTrader account without trading permissions. |
Product-specific password | used only for an eligible service, such as a Funds Management function, when that product displays a separate password control. |
Use trading password, not “master password,” when referring to the password that permits trading.

Reset a MetaTrader account password
Trading password
Sign in to the Client Portal.
Open the account list and select the relevant trading account.
Open the account actions menu.
Select the control to update the trading password.
Complete the security verification shown.
Create and confirm the new password.
Sign out of MetaTrader, select the correct server and sign in with the trading password.
Changing a trading password does not change the Client Portal password.
Set or change an investor/read-only password
Open the same trading-account actions and select the investor/read-only password control shown. Create a password that is different from the trading password.
When signed in to MetaTrader with an investor/read-only password, trading controls are unavailable by design.
Change a trading or investor/read-only password inside MT4 or MT5
Use this route only when you know the current trading password. MetaTrader may label it the master password. This route changes a password; it cannot recover a forgotten password. If you do not know the current trading password or Change Password is not shown, use the Client Portal steps above.
MT4 or MT5 on a computer
Connect to the relevant trading account using the correct server and current trading password.
Open Tools → Options → Server. You can also right-click the current account under Navigator → Accounts and select Change Password if that option is shown.
Next to the password field, select Change.
Enter the current trading password.
Select Change trading/master password or Change investor/read-only password.
Enter and confirm a new password that meets the current on-screen requirements, then confirm the change.
MT4 or MT5 app on iOS or Android
Open Accounts or Manage Accounts in the official MetaTrader app.
Select the relevant current account and confirm the account number and server.
Open the account menu or more-options icon, then select Change Password if it is shown.
Choose the trading/master password or investor/read-only password.
Enter the current trading password, then enter and confirm the new password and complete the change.
After changing the password
The change applies only to the currently selected trading account.
Reconnect with the correct account number, server and new password.
An investor/read-only password permits viewing only; it cannot place or change trades.
Menu names and availability can vary by MT4 or MT5 version, operating system and server settings. If the option is absent or an error appears, do not make repeated attempts; use the Client Portal.
Never share the current or new password, or a verification code, with anyone—including Fin or a support representative—or send it through chat, email or a support ticket.
What are the Client Portal password requirements?
The current Client Portal rule requires:
8 to 15 characters;
at least one uppercase English letter;
at least one lowercase English letter;
at least one number; and
at least one permitted special character.
Create a unique password that meets every requirement displayed on the password screen, and do not reuse a password from another service.
Troubleshoot password recovery
I did not receive a verification code or reset message
Confirm that you entered the email address registered to your Client Portal profile.
Search all mailbox folders for FXTRADING.com, including spam, junk, promotions and quarantine.
Check that the mailbox is not full and that the FXTRADING.com domain is not blocked.
Wait until the on-screen resend control becomes available before requesting another code.
Use another verification method only if the official flow offers one.
How do I change my registered email address?
Use the same registered-email process whether your identity verification is still in progress or has already been completed.
If you can sign in to the Client Portal
Sign in to the Client Portal.
Select Security from the left navigation.
Find Email Address and select Update on the right.
Follow the on-screen security checks and confirm the new email address.
If the old registered email cannot be used to sign in, but you can still access its mailbox
Email [email protected] from the old registered email address. State the old registered email, the new email you want to use, and that the old email cannot be used to sign in to the Client Portal for self-service. Our Customer Support Team will review the request and explain the next secure step.
If you can no longer access the old mailbox
Email [email protected] from an accessible email address. State the old registered email, the new email you want to use, and that you cannot access either the old mailbox or the Client Portal. The request will require an enhanced account-recovery review.
Identity and account checks
Before any change is made, we may require identity verification, including a face or liveness check. We may also verify account information, including but not limited to your trading account number, most recent deposit amount, approximate account balance, recently traded instruments, approximate account-opening date, and which authenticators were linked and when.
Do not attach identity documents or Proof of Address to an ordinary email. If documents, face or liveness verification, or another check are required, follow only the secure process provided by our Customer Support Team. Never send a password, one-time code, full card number, card security code, PIN, private key or recovery phrase. Provide only the information requested through the method specified by the team. The email address can be changed only after the required checks have been completed.
The page is locked or shows an error
Stop repeated attempts and follow the error or recovery action shown on screen. The restriction period and required action can vary; change a character only when the password screen identifies it as invalid.
If no recovery action is shown, capture the error without exposing a password or verification code and contact official support.
I did not request the password reset
Do not open the reset link or share the code. Open the official Client Portal directly, review active sessions and security settings, change the affected password, and contact official support if you suspect unauthorised access.
FXTRADING.com support will never ask for your password or one-time verification code.
